World equivalent of UK "red chillies" and "green chillies"

antihawk | Aug 18, 201711:39 AM     10

Hi, all.

I'm from the UK. Here, we don't have a large variety of chilli peppers in supermarkets: we have green, red, jalapenos, bird's eye and scotch bonnet chillies, normally.

There are obviously many recipes online that aren't written by Brits. No country other than us seems to have a generic "red" or "green chilli".

I've been researching and trying to discover if these chillies have a specific name that the rest of the world would recognise, but I've come up short. All I've seen is someone suggested they may be Serranos and/or Marisols.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
