Word difference

walnut | Jun 1, 201507:50 PM

I have a question and was wondering if any one could shed some light on it. I had some one ask me if something says chopped vegetables you think of vegetables chopped with a knife and can be sliced, diced etc... But yet if you say chopped to someone they think of little pieces not sliced . How does one differ which chop they mean? Or another example will you help me chop up an apple......some think chop as action with knife nothing to do with cut.,and others chop to mean cut in small pieces with knife or food chopper. Or if some one says they chopped their finger you don't think of little pieces here and there for chop. How does one differ the two meanings?
