New Wok Box in Mississauga

Friday for lunch, we were excited to try this new chain from out west. What a fail. We figure it's an upscale Thai Express, but the speed, quality and taste just didnt measure up.

We (the two of us) ordered the lunch box (a stir fry, small version, at $6.95). I had the pad thai (shrimp with noodles) and my friend had the teriyaki (chicken with rice). We also opted to add the fountain drink and egg roll for $2.99 more.

We had to have waited 20 minutes from lining up to getting our food.

When it came, the main was dished up in a very small porcelain bowl. It had no handles, and there werent any trays.. so the bowl was hot and was hard to carry. But when we discovered, the bowl was quite deep, so there were a lot of food inside.. however, with a small mouth, it was hard to eat out of.. When one of the staff came around to check on everyone, we had voiced our concern with the bowl.. hope they take it up to change it.

Food itself was not great. My friend who ordered rice got udon noodles. It was partly her fault 'coz her receipt actually said udon noodles, which meant the cashier punched it in wrong, but friend didnt see to correct her. But still, you expect one thing, and another comes out. Taste-wise, not good. My pad thai came out a bit bitter... not sure why. Her teriyaki was drenched in sauce that it became a soup. Blech.

All in all, not a good food trip. Kind of a fail. Perhaps they're still new to handle a Friday lunch crowd..? I'd go for Thai Express over here any day though..
