Winterlicious Review: Centro

Kerr | Feb 19, 2005 09:19 AM

Food.

I had had a martini, champagne risotto, baked salmon and lemon pudding. My wife had the same except for chocolate mousse rather than the lemon pudding.

Risotto: good but nothing special

Salmon: not so good and not so fresh. We could taste it 3 hours later. The sides, potato and sting beans were very tasty.

Lemon and Chocoloate. Both good. The chocolate was better. Still, nothing extraordinary.

Service

Good except with no hint of "you cheap winterlicious deabeat" attitude that I've heard can happen. One complaint, however. They brought the risotto 2 minutes after the drinks so we had no time to enjoy our martinis. It also killed out plan to have wine with dinner. I'm not sure if it was sign that they were trying to rush us out, but it felt that way. Judging by the Winterlicious menus on the tables, it must have been 1/3 of the restaurant.

Overall. The lousy salmon rendered the experience subpar. Given the price, I don't feel hard done by. Just disappointed. I expected a lot more from a restaurant with Centro's reputation.
