Winterlicious - Filet of Sole

Sierramum | Feb 6, 2004 10:35 AM

Went for dinner at Filet of Sole last night. We were a few minutes late, but were seated promptly at a booth by the bar. Very nice, quieter than the main area, allowed us to speak to each other without competing with the other diners. When I looked at the Winterlicious menu that we were given however, I was surprised to see beside the listing for the Grilled New York Sirloin Strip main "(add 5.99)". What the...? On their online menu, it doesn't say anything about this and since I had been planning on ordering this for my main, to say I was ticked off is a nice way to put it. Fortunately, it did go uphill from there. I had a glass of sauvignon blanc while hubby had the cabernet sauvignon (their Winterlicious wine specials), which we were both very pleased with. For apps, I had the mussels in tomato sauce which were cooked nicely but not remarkable. Hubby had the crab and lobster bisque which he greatly enjoyed. I settled on the filets of Lemon Sole with steamed red potatoes and they were great. Cooked perfectly and tasted so nice. I was happy with this choice. Hubby chose the grain fed chicken, which he just inhaled. Guess you can say that he approved of his dish as well. :) We both had the chocolate mousse for dessert which was alright. I emptied my glass but hubby just took one spoonful and gave the rest to our daughter. In case you're wondering, she had the fried calamari from the regular menu, which came with a nice chipotle sauce that was too spicy for her but I thought it was delicious.

Would I go back again? Perhaps. The octopus on the ceiling was pretty kewl...
