A friend shared a bottle of the NV Allimant-Laugner Crémant d’Alsace Rosé with me that he purchased at Santa Rosa’s Bottle Barn for $16. The pale pink sparkler had been his summer sipper, working through nearly three cases. And it’s easy to see why.
Tiny persistent bead, lovely floral aromas, a whisper of red strawberry fruit mingled with steely minerality, and a taut restraint that mimics Champagne all the way through the crisp, dry-ish finish. All Pinot Noir, this cremant is quite elegant and outperforms its price point. It would be a stylish partner at the table with Thursday’s turkey or as an aperitif.
Winesearcher shows the wine available locally at K&L, Weimax, SF Wine Trading Co., Artisan Wine Depot, and others selling for up to $20.
