If you're looking for a nice meal while you're enjoying the wine country I recommend Bella Cafe in Yamhill (240 S Maple St.).
We had the pleasure of eating dinner there twice this weekend: Friday with a party of 15 or so and again Sunday with my wife. Both meals were tasty and well presented. I'll describe the combined dishes from the two meals:
Appetizer was two crab stuffed, bacon wrapped, prawns served with a small asparagus stem and mild white sauce. The flavors blended fantastically and everything was well cooked (not dry). The salad was good, nothing special.
The smoked pork shoulder had been smoked for 8 hours over apple and alder and had a wonderfully smoky moist taste. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes, carrots and turnips. There was also a mild light red cream sauce that had just a hint of BBQ to it. This dish was great. FYI, they're going to be doing a BBQ night on Wednesdays starting next month.
The seafood pasta was a combination of mussels, scallops and shrimp with a white cream sauce over fettucini. The shrimp scampi was served in a mixture of sun dried tomatoes and onions accompanied with a rissoto and steamed veggies. Both these dishes were attractively served and very tasty.
They have a large dessert list (all house made). The items that we sampled included creme brulee, a chocolate brownie sundae and bananas foster. All were good though we probably should have shared the brownie or bananas foster rather than each having one.
Dinner entrees were in the $13-$18 range with steak and surf & turf over $20. Desserts were $6-7. They do have a good lunch menu with sandwiches, soups, etc. but I haven't eaten lunch there since last fall and don't recall the pricing.
Bella is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Wednesday thru Sunday. They have both indoor and patio seating. Two blocks south of the interesection of OR 240 and OR 47 in Yamhill. Owner, manager, hostess, etc is Cheryl Vote. 503-662-3298.
