wine/corkage etiquette

So I'm going out to La Cachette in L.A. tomorrow, and decided to bring 2 of my own bottles. It will just be myself and my girlfriend. My own tolerance is about 1 bottle, and my girlfriend is on medication that prevents her from drinking in quantity right now. This is perhaps a newbie question, but are there any laws or etiquette rules preventing me from taking my wines home once opened? It does seem tacky to me...but the thought of just letting the restaurant pour 50 bucks of wine down the drain or giving it to the cooks doesn't really appeal to me either. I wouldn't want to bring my own bottles if their wine by the glass/half bottle selection wasn't so limited. Help/advice greatly appreciated...
