I wanted to get a small group of friends together to go to winebars/ wineshops/ anywhere where we could do wine tastings and learn about wine...

Does anyone here have some wonderful suggestions for me? I thought it would be fun to get together on a monthly basis or so, and learn about one aspect of wine, but other than just randomly showing up at a wine bar, or calling ahead and saying- "uh, do you have someone who can talk to a group of 10 about French vs. California cabs?", I'm at a loss.

Suggestions on any place where you have ended up learning a lot more than you expected about wine would be very much appreciated!
