Went to Willy's in Shrewsbury the other night for the first time.
It's downstairs in an historic building (sort of reminded us of the original Picadilly in Westboro center!). There is valet parking, but none the night we were there.
The food was good - started with a tomato/buffalo motzarella salad. It was very fresh with basalmic vinegar dressing, chopped basil and pine nuts. Dinner was a dry aged, NY sirloin steak, medium rare. It was also very good, but a tad chewy around the edges - does the dry curing cause this? One good feature, they warn you not to over order on sides - they are big enough for 3-4 people! Our garlic mashed came piped onto a serving platter with 2 lattice fried potato chips as an accent. It was a huge amount for us and we didn't finish. The size of the sides made us opt for salads instead of a green vegetable. A wise choice. I had mentioned that it was my husband's birthday when making a reservation - so when we were finished, the waitress brought over a huge piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream (and a candle). Nice touch and I never had to remind her or the hostess. The service was very good - our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive but never overbearing. I did however, think that it was going to be a little fancier than it was, which was a disappointment. Most everyone there was dressed very casually (shorts and sandals) and brought all their kids. Pretty expensive place to bring a family. Judging by what was parked in the lot for cars answered it - Suburbans, Escalades, Excursions, Navigators. I guess those people who live in those new huge boxes have to eat somewhere with their kids.
Oh, and the the bathroom - I have been in cleaner gas station restrooms. Yuck. Not pretty.
Next birthday/special occasion we'll be going back to Romaine's. We'll save Willy's for after a round of golf.
