I saw a long line out the door here mid-morning, so some kind of word has gotten out. Looked mostly like tourist families with young kids, something you don't see so much at 17th and I sts, NW. And they seemed so dedicated and patient, waiting on such a long line.

I'd never heard of the place, so I was not that dedicated. I swung by about 30 minutes later, and the line had died down to something manageable. With only a short wait, I managed to grab one of the six indoor seats as a solo diner. Other had to wait, eat outside, or leave.

They have sweet and savory waffles, though the same batter is used for both. The waffle is tall but totally light and airy. A sign says that their waffles are the same calories as a hamburger bun, and I believe it. AIr doesn't have many calories!

I got a waffle with a baked apple and cinnamon topping. The waffle was a great success, and the apples really hit the spot. I will come back to try a savory one.
