It is no longer your mother's Wichita. Thanks to the many Lebanese/French trained chefs now in Wichita, we have several wonderful home-owned establishments worthy of note. Olive Tree, a four-star (and pricey) bistro, which started the trend towards gourmet and away from fast food and short order only (albeit great steaks) - followed by Bel Ami and Le Monde(my two favorites), N & J's, Brownstone Grill, Nouvelle Deli, Bella Luna and Piccadilly - offer not only Mediterranean, but quite a mix of international cuisine.(There's already enough discussion on the Chow about our heavenly Nu-ways.) Don't miss Saigon for great Vietnamese, and while you're on north Broadway, check out the Oriental and Mexican markets.
