I've tried bacon and bean soup, not that thrilled. Its hard to find a ham bone here and I'm trying to limit sodium anway and I won't do hocks etc. (please don't get derailed by this).
I made a bean soup with a bone in pork...chop? can't remember what it was, it was on sale. I seared it, cut the meat off, added it and the bone to the soup, then took the bone out after awhile. It was ok, sort of an indeterminate slightly meaty flavor. I may do it again but I'm wondering if anyone has any other recommendations.
