whisky stores and bar

Tamar G | Sep 23, 200412:05 PM     8

I posted a question about what kind of whisky to buy on the general topics board, but I also want to know where to get it in Manhattan. I've been to Park Avenue liquors which is very good, but seems to be on the expensive side. Are there cheaper stores in Manhattan with a good selection?

Also, a while ago I read about a whisky bar on the west side in the 40s or 50s. It had _a lot_ of options. I think it was on 10th or 11th avenue in an old warehouse. Does this ring any bells? Is it still around?

Thanks,
Tamar
