West 57th - Romantic - Wayfarer or Quality Italian?

internlinx | Dec 13, 201402:00 PM     1

Hi all …we're new parents going on our first 'date' night for my wife's birthday - first time to dinner at a restaurant in 6 months! don't want to stray too far from our apartment on west 59th and anyway, wife rationalizes that for the 40 dollars in cab fare and time spent getting downtown, lets have dinner in our own neighborhood for once. we are west villagers at heart but our quest for more space with the baby has us now living here in midtown. when we first moved here, rue 57 was the only buzzing option ...but now there are some pretty nice restaurants a couple of blocks from our place mostly on 57th. Thought we'd start with drinks at the Rooftop at Viceroy on 57th. Dinner is the challenge : looking into 3 options : Quality Italian (worst name ever) , or Wayfarer ? or Betony ? one preference are no banquette seating, wife has a huge aversion to people sitting so close on either side that you have to whisper awkwardly to one another, we prefer a real table. date is 12/ 23 day before christmas eve so maybe a prime table may be more possible …thanks for your thoughts -!
