I spent a couple of days in Wells this week, after reading posts here decided to try Joshua's (Wells) and the new Arrows' chefs place in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit;
After all the good reviews I was pretty disappointed in Joshua's; the crab cakes were so salty that no crab flavor was discernable, the swordfish special was dry & overcooked, served with mealy-textured gnocchi. The place is probably worth a second try sometime but I felt let down.
MCPerkins Cove has a great view (it is glass-enclosed, not open to the water). The "Seafood Tower" was impressive, with the quality of raw items (tuna, oysters) GREAT and the cooked items (shrimp, lobster) just slightly overdone. (Exception: the mussels were fine). All were served cold. The two sauces were ordinary, could be improved. Expensive but had leftovers for lunch the next day.
