still going through the inherited copper collection and came across this one: i don't know what to do to clean it up! it is a piece from switzerland, probably around early 1970's vintage. very heavy, nicely weighted. i turned it over and it was black inside! i took a couple of photos - this is after i had just lightly washed it with soap and hot water and this looks better than it had. What would cause this weird black color? can i fix it somehow - H2O2?? BKF?? scared to try anything - as you can hopefully see, there are lots of scratches in it: apparently mom scoured it at one point. i don't know why, but i think this is stainless coated - seems too shiny to be tin maybe? By the way, this piece looks lovely on the outside - it's just the inside that is odd.
this is so nice to have some of mother's copper, but i wish i had asked about it when she was around! i had no idea it was going to be complicated: thought i could wash and use it... i've got 2 pieces that need retinning so far, and now this weirdness!
