Do you weigh your own vegetables at Wegmans?

"Just curious, do you always weight your own vegetables at the grocery stores? I was at the check out lane at Wegmans this weekend and the lady behind me got really angry that I didn't weight my vegetables. I have been going to Wegmans for years and I have never done this, and it has never slowed me down at check out lanes. No cashiers have ever said anything to me and they normally just efficiently punch in the codes for each item (it always amazes me how they can remember all this).

This past weekend, the cashier I had must have been new because she was stopping to look up the code for each item. Which didn't really take that long in my mind because I only had 4 bags of vegetables. The lady behind me, however, apparently thought otherwise because she start scoffing at me for "not doing my job" (in her words) by not weight my own vegetables and "wasting 10 minutes of her life". She also stated that it was not the cashier's job to look up or remember the code for each produce.

So just curious, do you always weight your own vegetable? Did I miss some unwritten grocery store rules here?"
