this week's Oakland taco truck update

Ruth Lafler | Apr 14, 200206:44 PM     7

I took my mom chowhounding on International today. She liked the banh mi from Cam Huong, but the tacos from El Ojo des Aguas were "a revelation." My mom's not the type to go out in search of street food, but she's otherwise an adventurous eater who will eat almost anything: she looked the offerings over and chose lengua and tripas tacos (I had a bite of the tripas and it was pretty good -- I'm still not a tongue fan, but she proclaimed it "so tender" and delicious). She definitely going back with my dad. The next chow-venture with mom -- I was horrified to learn she's never had pho!

The news at El Ojo des Aguas: they are going to be opening a second location next week -- on International at 104th (almost into San Leandro). The grand opening is Tuesday. I'm going to try to check it out on the way to the airport (I'm going to Las Vegas for a few days), and I hope some of you San Leandro hounds will do the same.
