The Peppermill- Unpretentious retro amibiance without trying. The real deal. Great food, even better drinks, unbelievable lounge, best people watching. Binion's Steakhouse- same thing, the real McCoy, great steaks, view of town. Rumjungle (Mandalay Bay)- good food & drinks, high prices, trendy Latin flavor, youngish crowd. The Venetian- good basic Italian, old-school Vegas. Shows: "O" (Belagio)- a must despite high cost, nothing like it, will amaze you. "Legends In Concert" (Imperial Palace)- highly recommended if you like nostalgic music and high camp. Great performers (Elvis, Liberace, Tom Jones, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, Tina Turner impersonators), beautiful dancers. Most laughs, best entertainment value of everything we did. "The Rat Pack Is Back" (Sahara)- solid performances, especially the Sinatra character. "Storm" (Mandalay Bay)- Cirque ripoff, Latin tunes. "The CheckMates" (various lounges)- R&B/soul outfit, good. "Greg Peterson" (Voodoo Lounge, Rio)- solid R&B/rock cover band, great view of Strip. Sidetrips: Valley of Fire- beautiful rock formations, as good as Sedona, worth the hour drive. Red Rock Canyon- easy short drive, also nice. Pawnshops- good jewelry shopping, especially large diamonds and gold. Antique Arms Show (Riviera, 3 times a year)- better than a museum. You can spend several hundred thousand on one shotgun. Final observation- The great unwashed seem to have taken over a lot of Vegas. I expected kids and drunks but some people don't seem to care how they are dressed or look, even in the nice casinos. Nice town overall, we'll be back!
