We took a quick trip to the area, stayed 2 nights in La Jolla and 1 in Temecula. In La Jolla, I was truly wowed by Osteria Romantica - great, authentic Italian and reasonable prices on both food and wine. Casual atmosphere - great if you're looking for a more laid-back experience in ritzy La Jolla. I also enjoyed George's (the Terrace) - admittedly a bit more for the view than the food - but you can't miss the specialty cocktail called "Le Blondie", a mixture of cachaca, lychee vodka, white peach puree, and lime juice. Had a few too many of those. Breakfast at The Cottage was nice. In the city, we had one dinner on the patio at The Fish Market (next to the Midway), enjoying the view. I would call the food passable. Temecula was largely a bunch of chain restaurants, but we did enjoy Korean BBQ at Seoul Galbi. One place to avoid is the Rhinocerous (?) Bar and Grill on Orange St (Coronado) - terrible food and service.
