Weekend in Charleston

We spent a weekend in C'ton last month with family and wanted to report on our dining experiences. We had a wonderful lunch at S.N.O.B. My fresh crab salad was divine, and the fresh asparagus soup (cold) was creamy and full of asparagus flavor and color. It was packed for Saturday lunch, but the service was speedy and cordial. We had dinner at Blossom, and were glad of the free parking, a premium in downtown. I had something called Palmetto bass. Sounds like a made-up name, but it was very fresh, as promised, and nicely prepared with just the right amount of seasoning to enhance the fish. It was on a bed of jambalaya, not overly spicy, so that the fish was still the star. The house made chocolate cherry ice cream was excellent, also. My favorite was Jack's(?) Cosmic Dogs. A hot dog stand, decorated in '50s kitsch...loved the pop cooler featuring Nehi, Hire's, RC other brands from the past. My dog was dressed with pickle, mustard and onion (I'm a dog purist) but the others got theirs topped with a blue cheese slaw which they raved about. Nice hot, greasy fries, too.
