Need recommendations for a weekday lunch in LA at a place which has some kind of quietly impressive, unique atmosphere, without being over-the-top or kitschy.
One example of what I'm seeking would be Commissary - a greenhouse. (Haven't ruled it out, but am thinking I can do better, when you factor in food and service.) Yamashiro would be another, for, among other things, the remoteness and the exterior grounds. (It's closed for lunch).
Not looking for anywhere boisterous (e.g. - Bottega Louie) or just any ordinary view or patio unless it was a place where either was especially awe inspiring.
Open on location, $$$ (inexpensive through expensive), cuisine. Ideas?
