We are hosting a small dinner (14 people) for a dear friend on a week night in early October. Alas, us hosts have since moved from NYC and fear our memories are outdated.
Atmosphere: festive, enchanting, charming. Not so elegant that it is stuffy, nor so casual it becomes everyday. A private room might be nice, but is not essential. It is a bridal shower, so a place decorated like Bergdorf's Men's Shop is not what we are going for.
Location: Manhattan, or easily accessible Brooklyn
Cusine: Many pregnant women, so sushi and raw cheese are out. Perhaps not Italian, because there will be another big Italian meal later that week. Many of the guests are pretty serious/ adventurous eaters and live/ have lived globally.
Budget (per person including drinks): around $100
