Is it rude to ask the caterer for a breakdown of the "service" charge she has on there? We are having a wedding for 70 people and she stated she could do this for 35-38 dollars a head but this is just food, not service or alcohol included. The total food cost came to $3,000 with $900 for service....this menu includes a couple appetizers, pasta with some pork, beans, rice, anti pasta salad and coffee, tea. Her people will serve the food even though it's buffet style and pack up the dishes we rent. This price is before tax and gratuities. The price per head ended going up to 42.00 per head and the service charge she has not broken down for me. Are these prices reasonable? and we have asked for suggestions from her to bring the price down, like if we needed to switch some foods out for others and she seems resistant to do that. Any advice and info on the pricing and what they should be?
