What to wear to Robuchon?

lexdevil | Jan 15, 2006 01:08 AM

Packing and doing laundry as I write. Need advice. Being from the Bay Area, I'm used to a pretty casual restauarant scene. Yes, I've seen folks in bicycle shorts at Chez Panisse. I try not to dress like a total pig, but I generally prize comfort over style in choosing what to wear for serious high end eating. I do, after all, expect to be sitting for 3+ hours. I've read that Vegas restaurants tend to be more casual than their real world counterparts. Does this hold true for Robuchon (not L'Atelier)? Must I wear a skirt? Will businesslike trousers and a pressed dress shirt do, if I wear good shoes (which I, as the queen of accessories, believe excuse most sartorial faux pas). I can wear a long black velvet Max Mara skirt and 4" Vera Wang stilletos if I have to, but I'd really rather be able to relax and enjoy the food (assuming angry guy John below is off the mark). Please help me avoid being an ass.
