So - I have an opportunity to dine at the house of dufresne tonight. I'm trying to suss out whether I should plunk down the money to do the tasting menu or just order some weird confection from the menu.

I'll admit, I'm (for now) apostate vegetarian (I lived in germany for a few months and started with bites of schnitzel and then it escalated from there to lamb's tongue salad at babbo et al) and I'm scared of being served pig kidney's and the like, or a little rabbit ribcage with foie stuffing -- so -- is it terribly gamey and offalcentric or will i be safe? Is it really a kind of barfy experience eating pickled calve's tongue?

I know this is all totally subjective, and I'm not making any sense, but what do people think? I went to WD teh first day it opened and thought the food interesting but underwhelming, and too cerebral. But I keep hearing (mainly from chefs and serious food people) how amazing it is, and that it's a seirous restaurant, not an overnight capriccio.

Thoughts, advice, ideas, anyone?
