Watergate Restaurant Moves Uptown..and Upmarket

The Valencia Corridor cult favorite opened
their Nob Hill location to industry and media Weds. nite.
Served buffet style was: herb crusted escargot on rosemary skewers, mussels, oysters,Dungeness Crab
cakes w/ whipped goat cheese potatoes, and the crowd
favorite, Dan McCall style roasted pecan crusted Frenched lamb chops.
Seen in the crowd: Harvey Steiman, Narsai David and
correspondents from USA Today,NY Times,LA Times,etc.
Unfortunately, also present was the underground
mob of crashers that plague every decent restaurant opening in SF. Easily spotted in their Grodins and Roos-Atkins suits while licking their fingers and
attempting to pile food for 4 on their cocktail plates.
Their nickname "Garbage Guys" is earned at every event they attend.
small plates (Baby Frisee Salad,Ahi Tuna Carpaccio, etc
are $8. Entrees (sonoma Duck Breast, Roasted Red Beet
Risotto,etc) are $19.
3 promising restaurants- Mamma's, Vanessi's and Le Bistro have crashed at Grammercy Towers. The lucky
invitees were assaulted by a 4 hour onslaught of
restaurant #4's best dishes- along w a full open bar.
Chardonnay by Groth, Zinfandel from Joel Gott
