I've enjoyed Chopped in the past, but after a while, it gets to be a bit repetitive, so I just watch if nothing else is on. But I still look forward to the All-Stars episodes. It's nice to see some really good cooking and it's kind of like meeting up with some old friends.
But I have to say, the judging seems a bit suspect.
On Episode 1, I thought Brian Malarkey was obviously going to be the first one chopped. His food was not at the same level as the others and his personality was annoying. Madison choked or he would have taken it. But I thought Art Smith was who they would choose, even though I thought Eric Greenspan was better. And I was right.
On Episode 2, I thought Hung should have won but I had a suspicion that Anne Burrell would take it. And I was right.
My cynicism rears it's ugly head. It looks like all the old dogs of celebrity chef competitions are going to win each round. Was Art's food better than Eric's? Did Hung make more mistakes than Anne? I don't think so.
So I'm going to call the winner of the next episode without even seeing the food. Out of Antonia Lofaso, Cat Cora, Marcel Vigneron and Michael Psilakis, I'm going to say that the winner will be Cat Cora. Tune in next week to see if my cynicism is warranted.
