But alas, like is the better term.
Dined here on Saturday evening with DH and another couple. Service was prompt with water and greetings quick to appear. After about 5 minutes the waiter returned and seeing we were not quite ready to order informed us that when we do order, we should order everything we wanted at that time as the restaurant was fully booked that night.
So much for relaxing...
For starters, we ended up ordering
-the shrimp and squash blossom fritters
-tuna tartare with a fried, tuna stuffed pepper
-liver and foie mousse
Everything was OK. Nothing was really memorable. Even the mousse was a bit bland. My favorite part of that dish was the cornichon that added a pop of flavor.
Under pressure, I ordered the scallops with ravioli in pea puree. Again, not so great. The portions are big but the puree was a tad too sweet and the scallops were not seared properly.
My husbands mushroom pasta was much tastier.
We ordered a side of rapini but it looked and tasted as if it were either microwaved or boiled. Either way, it was cold and mushy.
We were allowed to order more drinks after the warning and was a bit surprised we were allowed to see a dessert menu. The sticky toffee pudding was good.
My friend who had also been looking forward to trying the place was pretty disappointed in her gnocchi and the whole experience in general.
The place is huge and I won't write it off just yet.
