Wallingford CT: Fried Seafood

During a drive from Philadelphia to Maine, I was pleasantly surprised by a fried fish restaurant we stumbled upon for lunch just off the Merritt Parkway. It's Captain Seas Restaurant, 905 North Colony Road (U.S. 5), Wallingford. It is located about a half-mile south of the exit (My DeLorme map program says it is Exit 66).

Very good fried seafood, cooked to order. I even had a decent soft shell crab! Onion rings are home made, too. For those who don't like seafood, that've got extra-long hot dogs (11-inch Hummels) that were a couple cuts above average, as well as hot dogs.

Certainly beats McDonald's or the other fast food franchises. Plus, there's a Hostess outlet across the street if you need to restock on Twinkies or Brownie Bites.
