Just got off the island after our first visit. We can recommend two places: Viola, a charming Italian restaurant in Oneroa offering superb pasta and risotto and delivering experienced service, and just up the road, a newly opened food truck run by a charming Argentinian. He makes his own organic sausages which are grilled and put on fresh ciabatta buns with either harissa or chimichurro. A real deal at $9. What we cannot recommend is the Red Crab, also newly opened. The soon-to-arrive liquor licence wasn't the issue (though it might have taken the edge off); the kitchen simply was overwhelmed and in the weeds. We waited 40 minutes between our entree and main and we weren't the only ones. I think the entree crab cake was actually minced pollack and it was served with what tasted like salad cream. The red curry duck was good but not memorable. I can forgive newly opened venues as long as they acknowledge the problem and at least make the requisite apologies and offers of free beverages. This place suffers from wanting to look good at the expense of the food and service.
