OK, I admit to being skeptical, but I am hooked. We found ourselves parked near Capogiro on Saturday and figured we'd stop in (even though it was just before dinner). After viewing the outrageous prices for the small, medium, and large dishes, we opted for the relative bargain of 2 pints for $18. About the price of two gourmet cakes, after all. After tasting all of the chocolate options (other than the capuccino because I hate coffee flavor) and two of the fruit, we opted for the bitter chocolate and the mango. Verdict? Certainly as good as the best we had in Italy. The mango and bitter chocolate seem to be a particularly good combination together, but the chocolate melts faster than the mango. It's so rich, a little goes a long way, so the two pints will last much longer than, say, Ben & Jerry's. Even the jaded 18-year-old agreed that it was awesome.
Not something we will regularly keep in the freezer, but a great special indulgence.
The sandwiches looked good and relatively inexpensive -- maybe the answer is to go for lunch and spend on dessert what you save on the sandwich.
