VOLARE TRATTORIA in Tustin

russkar | May 31, 2004 12:46 AM

We decided to try this brand new casual Italian restaurant(open 3 months) tonight(Sun). It's down the street from Roma and around the corner from Pina's(closed Sun).
John Franco met us at the front door and was very pleasant so we decided to give it a try. Chef is from La Fontana in HB.

Appy: Carpaccio (not very delicate, chewy)(only weak spot)C-
Mains:
House special Ravioli(12.95)(tonight Spinach and Ricotta)grade A
Chicken Piccata(14.95)B+
Incredible Eggplant Parmigiana(very light and yummy) (12.95)A+
Deserts:
Tiramisu (good but not Pina's but then again no one's is like Pina's.)B
Canoli (very good, rich)A
We are planing to return soon. They were very friendly about bringing wine in, but ask first. John Franco's(was at La Opera, and Prego) policy is 10- or free possibly if it's a "nice bottle".
Volare (open 7 days)
