Visiting the Seaview? Skip Athenian Garden (Galloway, NJ)

My wife and I were visiting the Marriott Seaview for three nights this weekend, and after trying "Gourmet," also in Galloway, (OK tuna steak; ok crab ravioli; solid service) thought we'd try "Athenian Garden" down the road on Route 9 South (Old New York Rd.)

My recommendation is, avoid it. We were unnecessairly asked to make a reservation for 6 pm and, when we arrived on time, found empty tables.

The place was obviously understaffed, and service was miserable. We came close to walking out two or three times.

Fifty minutes (50) after we arrived, our salads were delivered to our table. The pair of older women beside us had waited so long and was so fed up waiting for service that one of them had taken to pacing around, and finally went up front for a couple of clam-shell containers herself. Every table around us waited as long as we did for their food to be delivered.

(Substituting a small Greek salad with anchovies for the house salad cost an extra $5.50 by the way.) An hour and twenty minutes (1:20) after we arrived, our entrees were placed before us. The vegetables accompanying my wife's Chicken Oregenato were drowning in oil.

All in all, it was an unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend a visit to this establishment. Unfortunately, there are very few options in the immediate area. But I'd advise giving this one a miss.
