We're visiting the in-laws in NJ next week and will make two trips into Manhattan - one with kids (2 1/2 and 5) and one without.
With the kids we'd like a good pizza place for lunch with seating and something to watch. We've done John's Pizza in the Theater District before and the kids enjoyed watching the pizza being made. We're going to take the Staten Island ferry for the ride and to see the Statute of Liberty - is there anything similar in lower Manhattan?
On our own we're looking for a nice dinner out - maybe in the Village, but we aren't tied to a particular neighborhood. We make trips into Manhattan about twice a year and are happy to venture into different neighborhoods. We don't want super fancy, pretentious. We went to La Palapa last time and thought it was great. We also like Italian, sushi, American.
