first visit to Dim Sum King

Yesterday, after a shopping adventure to Ranch 99/Daly City (on Skyline Blvd), a friend and I trudged over to Dim Sum King in the same shopping center for lunch. It has a big grand opening sign on it. We were extremely hungry and filled out the menu/order form quickly. The place was crowded, but not full. We ordered:
pork dumplings
vegetable dumplings
turnip cake (no greens)
green onion pancake (the deep fried version)
homemade dumplings
dried scallop dumplings
shanghai dumplings (only a small step below Shanghai on Balboa)
salt and pepper shrimp (some had heads and some did not)
sesame balls

Our order came very quickly, not all at once, and the tea and plate clearing service was attentive. We really liked the tables that are glass tops filled with bubbles except we kept thinking we had spilled our water. The lack of carts roaming through the aisles was a little problematic, as you do not get to see what the food looks like, but luckily we were pleasantly surprised.

We thought every dish was good, fresh and tasty, but the standouts were the homemade dumplings for their crunchy nut filling (I think cashew), and the dried scallop dumplings for exceptional flavor. The tea was very high quality!

The sesame balls at the end of the meal were so fabulous they rendered us speechless. I have to say I have a loving bias toward any kind of fried dough. These were so hot/fresh, right out of the fryer, that when the server cut them at the table they crackled and sent the most inticing steamy, toasty sesame aroma right up our nostrils.

The entire feast was $30. + tip, we thought a major bargain.
I am planning my next trip out there, and want to try one of their noodle offerings. Several tables around us had large luscious plates of noodles that looked and smelled great.

Anyone else been there yet, what did you think? I hope they can keep up the quality when the crowds start jamming the place.
