Lately, I've become a real fan of the breakfast offerings at Vintage cafe on the Pasadena/Altadena border (Lincoln and Montana). They do a good job of the basic egg dishes. Their breakfast burritos are very good. I like the eggs Benedict. Haven't tried the steak and eggs yet, but I will soon. This past weekend I had a breakfast burrito and side of biscuits and gravy (quite the combo). The gravy was not the standard white sausage but had some color and good spice to it. The biscuits were light and fluffy, though when gravy is applied to a biscuit it becomnes heavy no matter how light it was originally.
They've added a lot of tables recently. It used to be a kind of combination cafe and antique shop, but its more a full-on restaurant now. They serve dinner and the menu items look interesting but I've not tried dinner there yet.
Service can be slow, the chef tends to also double as the waiter, but for breakfast I don't mind since I like to read the paper anyway.
Its nice to have a solid breakfast choice close to me.
