After being reminded by threads here how delicious Indian food is, I went out to dinner last night and ordered chicken vindaloo. The menu described it as spicy and extra gingery. I ordered four star spicy out of five, and while there was some heat to the sauce, it was also distinctly sweet, which I was not expecting. I dislike sugar in my savory food and was disappointed.
Does vindaloo always have a sweetness, or sweet and sour profile, or was this unusual? I do love Indian food, but usually order masala curries and am not so familiar with vindaloo.
