So, I never tried the pizza dough from Vignola when they were located in the strip mall formerly on Washington St in downtown Rockville. Now that they've moved to the pike, I decided to give it a try because I like homemade pizza, but sometimes don't plan ahead adequately to make dough.
I'm sorry to report, I found it disappointing. I want to like it, because I like Vignola. But it tasted so average to me, so *shrug*. I can't put my finger on it--inadequate gluten (maybe semolina flour in it? it was very yellow compared to what I make at home), and the flavor reminded me of mediocre pizza dough from any ole pizza joint. It wasn't horrible or anything, but it wasn't a pizza dough to which I plan to return.
Sure the sandwiches are still good, and they're back to selling the lavazza brand coffee that I like, but the pizza dough just isn't a reason to go (IMHO).
