Tray service Dim Sum is now being offered at Vietnamese Garden located at 2505 Battleground Avenue in Greensboro, NC. It is served on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 PM. Vietnamese Garden has a reputation for quality Asian food and the new Dim Sum follows offerings suit. As it turns out we happened to show up the first day that Dim Sum was being served. That being said, the food did take a long time to get to the table. This is to be expected at any restaurant on the first day, so I wouldn't knock them for it. The extremely polite and efficient wait staff also reiterated this fact, so we knew exactly what to expect for time. The food itself was really great! We ordered literally half the menu and were very impressed with all the dishes.
I've never eaten Dim Sum in China, but I have in several Chinatowns and in lots of other places around the country and I have to say, the high quality of the food sets Vietnamese Garden apart. Many of my past experiences have been in a stereotypical hole in the wall Chinese restaurants where there is the trademark smell of the live seafood section of an Asian market lingers in the air. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that! For me, that is part of the traditional Dim Sum experience. Vietnamese Garden, while still serving traditional Dim Sum dishes, also makes working with super fresh ingredients, cleanliness, and fierce attention to detail a priority.
It's a little more pricey than most Dim Sum restaurants. All dishes are currently priced at $4.95; however, considering the quality of the food I'm just reminded that we get what we pay for.
"Remember, eat through it!"
