New Vietnamese in downtown Sunnyvale

blipton | Dec 3, 2005 11:38 PM

A new Vietnamese restaurant opened in the same location as the Vietnamese restaurant that closed on S. Murphy Ave. It is called Phuong Thao and is very good. It has Pho and much more.

I tried Banh Xeo, the rice crepe, for the first time. I enjoyed it very much. The crisp but soft texture, the vegetables and pickles to put inside, dunked into fish sauce was a delight. The grilled pork and shrimp in the vermicelli bowl had an extra glaze on it which elevated the dish.

The place is not fancy, but the food is a step above. It also has stir fried dishes that I have not tried yet.

Since it is a new place, the owners try very hard for you to have a good experience.
