Victoria and Port Alberni

Recently visited Victoria and throughly enjoyed Caffe Brio, which was recommended here, but also Paprika Bistro at 2524 Estavan Avenue near Oak Bay. Appetizer of montrachet over spinach leaves topped with carmelized onions on a bit of curry oil and paprika oil with ultrafine shredded carrot and dots of balsamic vinegar reduction was fabuluous.
While looking for good venues in Port Alberni, we came across Wickanninish Lodge in Long Beach (in Pacific Rim Park) which had promising menu and gorgeous view of the beach, but unfortunately was booked for a private function. A guest from the previous day recommended the curried mussel appetizer. No "fine dining" in Port Laberni that we could discover, but dinner at Ursula's Courtyard was hearty, plentiful and reasonably priced.
