Had dinner at Verdura Thursday night - delicious, and with its usual warm service. We started with a shaved fennel and tomato salad, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with bottarga. Good, but there were some red chile flakes on there as well, that made it a little too spicey for my taste. The fried calamari was very good, done in a somewhat tempura-like batter.
The standouts were a risotto with lobster, melted leeks, sweet corn and bacon - divine, and the linguine and white clam sauce, that had more of those red chile flakes, which worked well here, and bread crumbs.
Dessert was a strawberry and rhubarb crisp with Berskhire Creamery vanilla ice cream. I am not such a rhubarb dessert fan because they're usually not sweet enough for me, but this was quite good.
I had a great meal my last visit to Verdura and had been looking forward to returning. It did not disappoint.
