I thought Venue Restaurant was AWFUL. Some of the decor works, some of it doesn't. I wasn't even sure what type of place it was when I passed by because they don't go out of their way to advertise it as a restaurant (and no menu on their glass.) The person who seated us seemed to be feigning friendliness, on the cold side. The rest of the people who attended to us were quite nice though it took a while to get water. We waited a long time for bread, appetizer and meal but a nice surprise was a sample from the chef tasting menu which turned out to be the best part of the dinner. This restaurant is quite pricey but ultimately I consider the food bad. It's a gourmet food ragu, they mix too much together to the point where not only can't you separate the different parts of the dish (our fish was WAY too soft), you don't like how they taste together. You read the menu and it sounds wonderful, what you don't realize is that all these flavors are overdone, it's overkill. And as I said, our fish was practically pureed, seemed poached, which means it doesn't belong in a bed of mashed kohlrabi (of which there was too much, barely any bok choy) and I'm thrilled I asked for the vanilla foam on the side because it would've been awful on top of the dish. I don't think this restaurant will last because the food isn't anywhere nearly as good as it sounds when you read the menu. The wait is way too long (in a half empty place) but on the plus side, there is an exotic elaborate presentation of the food which is enjoyable.
