Old Venice Restaurant--Point Loma

Greetings:

Had always passed by this restaurant during the day and finally got a chance to check it out on a Saturday night. I have had my share of medicore, overpriced Italian meals in San Diego but was very pleasantly surprised with Old Venice. At the suggestion of my server, I had the Linguini Kathleen which included chopped roma tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, and pesto sauce. Very tasty, good sized portion, and reasonably priced at $ 16. Good wine list and interesting ambience. I especially liked the bar area where they have comfortable bar and lounge seating, live music (mostly jazz) on weekends with no cover. It also seemed as though most of the people were locals, making this a great neighborhood eatery (in contrast to the Gaslamp--let alone much higher prices). Besides the pasta, the pizza's looked awesome, and they serve a full array of Italian dishes that includes seafood, chicken/veal picatta, parmigianna, etc. I will definitely plan on returning here and, as I said earlier, a place has to earn my recommendation--Old Venice did.
