I always turn to Chowhound recommendations, but haven't posted in quite a long time. Living in Las Vegas for the past three years, I've found the reviews here to be very lacking. Not so for Venice! I am traveling to Italy with my husband and 6-month-old daughter in May, and have done quite a bit of research. We'll plan our sight-seeing for the day around the restaurants we want to eat at. I would love your advice on this itinerary before I make reservations, and help filling the two open meals. Also - it seems like the popular thing here is to have breakfast in the hotel. Are there any cafes that we absolutely must visit for breakfast? Thank you in advance!
Friday Lunch: Arrive at the airport at 11am, lunch at Il Ridotto at 1:30pm (does this give us enough time to check in to the hotel? we are staying very close, about a 10 minute walk)
Friday Dinner: Open, thinking we may be very tired after a full day of travel and will want to grab something casual/quick. We are staying about half-way between the Rialto bridge & St. Mark's.
Saturday Lunch: La Cantina
Saturday Dinner: alle Testiere
Sunday Lunch: Al Timon
Sunday Dinner: Open - perhaps Al Covo or Vini da Gigio
Monday - travel to Alba
Friday Dinner: Return to Venice for one night before flying home on Saturday morning. Dinner at Anice Stellato
