In Venice now, staying in an apartment on Fondamenta Nuove.
We've been cooking and eating in but will keep up with the restaurants and bars here.

WeCroceferi is an upscale hostel with a hotel like bar. Drinks vary with the bar tender but I had a really great Negroni there. If you pass the bar there is a terrace on a nice canal. Great for coffee or drinks.

Puppa Bar, on Calle Spezier. Funky place with great friendly service and good coffee and spritzes. And they play great musice...not too loud.

Alla Frasca--I posted on another thread that we had a disappointing meal there. Mixed grilled fish plat was huge but mostly dried out/overcooked. Spaghetti with clams was bland. the spaghetti was mushy and half of the clams weren't open. Bad day?

Trattoria Storica on Salizada Seriman--a happy accident. Went there without a reservation. Plenty of empty tables inside. Husband had spaghetti with clams--absolutely perfect! good flavor with a little garlic, nicely cooked pasta and plenty of clams. €15
I shared with a friend the whole Branzino for two. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Came with potatoes cooked with little tomatoes and a few tiny olives. A great dish although it was €48 for the fish but that was for 2 so not terrible at all.
Service was easy and friendly. I would certainly go back even though I have never seen it mentioned here or anywhere. Our local friend suggested it.
