Velvet Margarita Cantina

This place has gotten bashed a bit on this board . . . now that I've eaten here, I can see why. Went on Sat. night. The chips/salsa (bean dip and two other kinds of dip) were ok. The margarita ok. Tried teh calamari - greasy, heavy, and the dipping sauce was like salty acid. Just awful. I started with a tequila shrimp soup that had NO flavor and was full of potato chunks - not shrimp. The dinners were $15/each (I had carne asada skewers) came out to us cold. The refried beand were watery and flavorless as was the rice. I had several bad pieces of meat (fat/grissle). It was just so bleh!

The space was very fun and it seems like a great place to grab a drink - but AVOID the food. Esp. for that price - for mexican food. Crazy.
