I went to a new restaurant on Tuesday last called Veil, and I think it was the best meal I have had in years. Really dream-like interior, and awesome mixed drinks started me off in the bar, and Chamomile tea has never been so appealing as in a martini.
Then the chef just knocked me out with dishes that literally melted in our mouths. It had been a long time since I had experienced that sensation.
I understand that the chef likes to try new stuff, and so I guess the menu will not be static. But the things I had were tuna tartare starter...quite delicious, avocado soup...rich and mellow, then kobe beef with a ravioli of some sort on top. It doesn't matter what it was, it was awesome.
Anyway, good luck to these guys. Seattle needs to have places like this. The chef's menu reminds me of what you would get in Manhattan.
There are no real "safe" food options, like fried chicken or a burger (although lamb mini-burgers are on the bar menu, but I passed) so its not for the people happy at Applebee's.
22-29 dollar entrees make it a bit on the high side, but if you want a truly memorable meal prepared by a fantastic chef, go for it.
